This class will cover the basics of deck building, including the critical connections involved in deck construction and related code requirements per the IRC Residential Code. It will review connectors, flashing and fasteners, load capacity, corrosion issues and basic deck inspections.

11:30 – 12:00 / Legislative Issues in 2023 (Discussion & Updates)

The President of KAR’s Board has indicated their #1 Legislative Goal is to get Home Inspectors licensed. AND in Kansas the Realtors have been aided by a group of inspectors in SW Kansas that say they speak for about 250-260 +/- inspectors and their members want licensure. It also looks like the group that provides the NHIE Exam to home inspectors hired a lobbyist in Kansas ???. Many newer inspectors don’t know who the special interest groups are OR that these groups try to put requirements on US that they themselves don’t have. Due to the pandemic and other legislative priorities; the last Bill was stopped. However getting you LICENSED is Realtors #1 Legislative Goal for 2023.
